CASE STUDY - Rachel Morrison ASC

All of the words in the document come from a variety of interviews with cinematographer Rachel Morrison ASC ranging from podcasts to ICG. This is the culmination of my finding and what makes her tick as a master of her craft. Accompanying the short blurbs are images I feel represent what she is talking about. This is a way to see the images and then read the why! This was a great research project for me and I plan to do many more, who would you like to see next?

If there’s something people tend to see in my work, it’s naturalism. People often mistake my lighting for natural lighting, but it rarely is. I also think that’s indicative of the movies I choose to shoot So I might say my style is a naturalism with a focus on character. Let’s call it subjective naturalism.
